I spend a few minutes each week
fighting spam. In fact, I have
a blog devoted to Spamassassin,
spam-fighting software:
Spamassassin Essentials
One of the things I find most
helpful in fighting spam is being
able to view email instantly in
source form.
Why view email in source form?
Because then you are viewing
everything, hidden and visible.
I find it helps to view the whole
thing when I am in spam-fighting
mode.
How you do this will depend on what
email reader (email client) you use.
I use Kmail under Debian Linux.
To view the source code of the current
email in Kmail, I can take one of two
approaches:
- Type a lowercase v
- Right-click and choose View Source
Of course, I prefer to type the
letter v. Using keyboard
shortcuts like this is so much faster.
When I type a lowercase v in
Kmail, a window instantly pops up and
all the source code for the current
email is found in the window.
Perhaps your email reader does not
have a keyboard shortcut for viewing
email source code. Perhaps you will
have to find another way. Right-clicking
might be one way. Pulling down the
View Menu might be another.
If you would like to include your
way of viewing email source code
under your email reader, please
comment below.
